78% say Citizens United was a bad decision


63% would support raising the minimum wage to $15/hr


75% would support raising it to $12.50


82% support indexing the minimum wage to inflation


62% believe in debt free public college


46% believe public college should be free


79% support paid family and medical leave


58% support legalizing weed


63% oppose raising the age at which citizens can start collecting Social Security benefits


68% oppose privatizing Social Security


67% support lifting the cap on Social Security contributions to ensure continued solvency of the program


88% support universal background checks for gun purchases


70% oppose ending federal funding for Planned Parenthood

80% believe that we have more work to do on gender equality

76% believe sexism is still a problem


58% support federally funded universal health care


65% accept the scientific consensus that humans are driving climate change

At any rate, the point is that right now we have a government pursuing policies which the majority of Americans disagree with, often by huge margins. For whatever reason, these people and their supporters seem to be under the impression that they matter more than the rest of us and that they are entitled to force their will on us. How did this happen, you ask? Seeing as we’re supposedly a democracy of the people, by the people and for the people and all. Well, it’s not because they’re winning more votes, that’s for sure:



No wonder 85% of Americans say our political system is rigged.
